Novak Djokovic win or lose tomorrow he will be officially the worlds no 1

"It all changed last year when his nutritionist tested him positive for a gluten allergy. That resulted in Djokovic cutting off pasta, pizza, beer, bread, corn flakes – most processed carbs to cut a long story short – all of which contain gluten. So much for the idea of the carb boost required for athletic endurance!

Now who would’ve thought that a simple allergy test could have led to one of the most dominant stretches in tennis history?

Gluten is a kind of protein found in most processed carbohydrates. But many a time, when we eat highly processed foods like most cereals, bread, pizza, pasta, naans etc. we don’t give much thought to how it's affecting our health.

Today a lot of medical practitioners the world over are opening up to the fact that highly processed white sugar, white flour, and other food items are a lot more dangerous (rather than just fattening) than what we had previously thought. Getting your carbs from fresh vegetables, salads, and fruit is a far better and healthier alternative."

Hi Ed - if you are able to check out my recent post on 'the forum' you will see that it is not the gluten - or us - it's the fact that virtually all grain-based foods haven't been prepared properly.

After well over three years gluten-free, I have made some wheat bread this week and we have both had some (him considerably more than me!) with NO reactions whatsoever.

Long soaking and long proving is the key - and those ancient wisdoms that stood people in good stead for millennia have been discarded in the quest for speed and high-profit - very much to our detriment.

Ok, no reaction, but what did it do to your bg levels?
Man is not designed to eat grains.

I have nothing against this man but I'm with Nadal this afternoon, it has all the makings of a great match.

Have been watching the Australian Open (mainly the mens championship)and must admit I am still a Nadal fan. The top four guys have done very well though and I think the Nadal v Djokovic final will be fascinating. I was so pleased to see Murray play so well. Perhaps maybe he will win a grand slam this year, it would be nice in the Olympic year.
